Kaal sarp yoga and dosha

INTRODUCTION TO KAAL SARP YOGA AND DOSHA

Rahu and Ketu are the two nodal points, not physically existing but are considered as two different planets (out of total 9) in vedic astrology. In each horoscope, they are placed at 180 degrees, i.e., in opposite houses. Their position in the birth chart plays an important role.

As we all know that all the planets keep revolving across 12 different raashis. Following this, Rahu and Ketu  move in a clockwise direction; while all others planets are  move  in anti-clockwise direction. Now, kaal sarp yoga is said to be formed in a horoscope when all the planets are posited in a manner that while revolving, they look as they are entering in ketu's mouth. All the other planets are placed within this belt of 180 degree between Rahu and Ketu. For example, see the natal chart  below:

In the above chart, you can see that all planets lie between Rahu and Ketu. While revolving, Ketu will first eat Saturn, then Jupiter and so on while moving towards Rahu. So, this chart can be said to have kaal sarp yoga. While it would have been kaal sarp dosha in case the positions of  Rahu and Ketu were opposite, i.e, all the planets being first coming into the dragon's mouth of the (Rahu). Rahu is considered to be dragon's mouth, while Ketu the dragon's tail.
